The timber items that Grant makes are created using local sustainably collected, windfall mallee and recycled timbers. This may be old red gum fence posts or green roadside windfall.

Grant says, "I am aware of the importance of leaving hollows, old growth vegetation and decomposing leaf matter for habitat: interfering as little as possible with the natural environment."

He says that creating new and useful items and repurposing old timber is a way that he can raise awareness of the protection of the habitat and a relaxing way to enjoy another aspect of land stewardship.

Timber items include bowls from tree forks and old Mallee burls, cheese boards, small sample key rings, and timber boxes ( round timber containers) amongst other items.
